Joe Kerlin is the Director of SXO at a digital marketing agency called Rocket55 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
SXO (Search Experience Optimization) is believed to be the next iteration of SEO, where your organic search strategy is applied to search platforms beyond Google & Bing. The goal of SXO is to reach your audience by creating the content they’re seeking and ensuring it's found by searchers, regardless of what search platform they’re using.
He entered the digital marketing field by writing SEO-friendly copy for websites. A year into the job, he started deploying on-site SEO tactics and setting strategies for a handful of clients. He’s been an SEO strategist for more than 100 websites.
Before his digital marketing career, Joe worked in the magazine industry. He accepted an internship at Spotlight Media in January 2013. He earned a full-time position upon graduation in December 2014. He worked at Spotlight as an associate editor and editor of both Bison Illustrated magazine and the new Fighting Hawks Magazine until May 2018.
Joe prides himself on being indirectly involved in NDSU winning six FCS national championships in seven years and his knowledge of early-2000 Minnesota Twins players.
