We went inside the world of recruiting for the May issue. We told eight football players’ stories of how they ended up at NDSU, including two interviews with coaches and one from an incoming recruit.

NDSU spring sports programs do a lot of traveling while in-season. They travel to the South, West Coast, and anywhere the sun shines. We asked a member of the softball and baseball team to document their adventures from the road.

Brock Russell arrived at NDSU without a scholarship. For five years he has battled during practice to only play a minuscule amount of football on Saturdays. We highlight the student-athletes who have paid their way through college to be a part of the Bison program.

Matt Larsen has been named the new Director of Athletics at North Dakota State University. We dabble into his past and talk about the potential he sees at NDSU.

For the second time in two years, ESPN’s “College GameDay” broadcast comes to Downtown Fargo to film their popular college football morning show.

Former defensive coordinator Chris Klieman is about to begin his first year as the head coach for the Bison football team. Coming off three-straight championships, Klieman is well-aware of the expectations and has a plan to keep the culture going in the program.

The award-winning August 2014 cover projects the new beginning at NDSU Athletics. Within the next several months, the Bison will introduce a new Director of Athletics and fresh faces in the football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball programs.

Head football coach Craig Bohl gets a lot of credit for the success of the football team and rightfully so. In this issue, we go behind-the-scenes with the other coaches on his staff to see what it’s like being an assistant coach for a successful program.

The 2012-13 NDSU Athletics season could be called the turning point for the program. We try to jam every accomplishment in the magazine.

This was the first magazine I was given full-editorial control of. My bosses were a huge help with the concept of the cover, however. Amy Anderson is easily the best golfer to wear green and gold. She talked to us about becoming successful in a cold climate.

It’s a Good Day to Die Hard and for the men’s basketball team, it was a Good Day to Play Hard. I can’t take credit for the title but I did talk to every player on the team about their goal of reaching the NCAA Tournament.
